Azazel the Corrupt

I was watching Paranormal Activities and there was a topic about demonology occult in the movie. I'm not really into occult because there's a lot of hoaxes and conspiracy in spiritual entities. There was a lot random demon names like Azazel, Lucifer, Belial, etc. Each demon classifies the seven sins in which I did not know about. Lucifer as pride, Mammon as greed, Asmodeus as lust, Leviathan as envy, so on.

I did some trial-and-error designs for the eyes. The first one came unattractive; it didn't grab much attention. The second design attracts a lot in my opinon. I toned down a bit and gave a red eye on the third to see whether or not it improve from the previous one. The fourth would be what I called, "Standard version," in other words, the median of all 5 designs. The last was more like the Lich King with the flashy eye glow from World of Warcraft: The Wrath of the Lich King.

I'll probably do a turnaround for this guy if I have time. lol

I had a lot of fun doing this piece. It may be my first armor design post on this blog. I've been putting up a lot of photoshop stuff. I need to start posting some pencil sketches next time.

*edit*
I miss painting figures.

Journey

I did this on my spare time while currently interning in Japan. I'm pretty sure most of you designers and artist are aware that you have little time working on your personal project. As for me, I tried to spend this as much as I can and took me roughly about 5 hrs total rendering it on and off. :(

I'll post a newer draft of this piece later during the week (if I have time).

Here's a second one:

Sketch for the day. Jungles are hard to paint sometimes. Especially the subtle lighting.
Note to self: I gotta throw in some character designs next time.

Pirates of the Carribean theme

My teacher and friend, Jung told me that it's better to understand how to create a mattepainting because it'll be easier to go back and speedpaint without having trouble with lighting and perspective. I was watching Pirates of the Carribean this afternoon and somehow while I was creating a composition, it happened to turn out just like it. lol

Cheers!

P.S. I don't know if it's my monitor's calibration for my both my PC and Mac, but it seems a lot brighter on PC than Mac. The darks is totally washed out.

Note: Added ClustrMaps today.

Forest Walk

I had the urge to do a quick speedie for about 5hrs. I was reading a small article based on "Lewis and Clark Expedition." It was quite intriguing that the expedition was to learn more about the Northwest's natural resources, inhabitants, and possibilities for settlement and that Lewis and Clark were not the first explorers to travel west. They did not achieve their primary objective of finding a waterway across North America. For this, I thought it'll be pretty cool to come up with some exploration or an adventure in an abadoned sacred forest.

Some more speedies from CDA class with Cecil and Jung.
I should do a lot of these jumpstarts. From the class, I learned a lot by saving one comp then taking further until I hit another "bump." So that way, when I compared what I saved I should understand what worked and what didn't. Could it be the composition? the lighting? focal point? or even mood?

SF

These are some rough speedies I did for Sunday night class at CDA with Cecil and Jung. I highly recommend this class for those of you who need to get their environment designs polished up. Everybody in that class is very talented and I feel like I need do more of these to catch up. I will be back later to post some character designs I've been working on. Stay tuned!
